Based in Godalming, he has been at the helm and part of a number of institutions in the past. A passionate and innovative educator, he takes pride in the many changes and reforms that he has introduced to these organisations- something that students and staff are still benefiting from until today.

If you want to take a trip to Godalming, there are a number of places you would certainly want to see and activities that you wouldn’t want to miss out. A historic market town, it is known for its quirky characteristics and endearing peaceful nature. Below, Peter Gale lists down some of the things that you definitely want to look into if you ever get the chance to be in Godalming.

If you are visiting with your family and with the kids in tow, one of the places you should probably visit is Lockwood Centre for Horses and Donkeys. A lovely equine centre, it hosts a number of events and open days. The place features rest homes for donkeys and horses that are well-kept. A team of animal lovers are running the place and it offers a wonderful and educational experience for the young and old alike to get up close with the animals.

Phillips Memorial Park is another Godalming attraction that Peter Gale suggest you should not miss. Built in memory of the telegraphic Jack Phillips who was regarded as a hero in the ill-fated Titanic, Gertrude Jekyll designed the garden. Hugh Thackeray Turner designed the 80 feet square magnificent brick cloister. Situated between the Godalming Parish Church and the River Wey, it has a nice grassy area which is perfect for relaxation. This could be the perfect playground for the little kids too. In the summer, the place also features some live music.

You wouldn’t want to miss out the Godalming Museum too. Located on the lovely High Street, this is one of the most excellent examples of how local museums should be. It features a professional staff along with some very dedicated volunteers. It does not only narrate the story of the locality but also features some of the heroes that the hometown has produced over the years.

Your visit to Godalming is not going to be complete without checking out some of its interesting offerings for the nightlife. One pub that you would not want to miss put is the Three Lions. Known for its good live music, it is one of the most popular pubs in the area and is very much what anybody would regard as a proper pub. Known by the locals as the Scratchers, the place is beautiful and has a nice atmosphere and the food is truly noteworthy. Add reasonable prices and friendly locals to the mix and you know that you are bound to have a truly great time.

Godalming truly has a unique and quirky charm that makes it a really worthy destination to head to.
